Shortly before midnight, I caught I young and pudgy mink in the live trap. For some reason, I thought mink were bigger than they appear to be.
I learned, much to the annoyance of the neighbours, that mink scream when you come near them. They scream loudly, too. They sound like a screeching tire, decibel level and all. They also hiss and emit a terrible odor that has notes of skunk and wet dog.
Our neighbour helped us deal with the little critter. I set up the live trap again last night and I'm off to see if yesterday's mink had a sidekick.
That should ensure that mum's chickens inhabit the land of the living for a little while longer. We'll shore up the bottom of the hen house later today.
